Each CURT class 3 hitch is engineered to fit on a specific vehicle. This provides the best possible fit and easiest installation. This particular custom class 3 hitch fits specific years of the Toyota RAV4 (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide or use the Vehicle Lookup tool). It is designed to integrate with the vehicle's existing features and offer a reliable connection to your trailer.
This Toyota RAV4 hitch is stringently tested in accordance with SAE J684 to ensure a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. gross trailer weight and 600 lbs. tongue weight. It is compatible with a weight distribution hitch to provide more stable towing and a weight distribution rating of 4,000 lbs. WD and 600 lbs. WDTW. It also features a 2" receiver tube opening to accept ball mount or other hitch accessory with a 2" x 2" shank.

First, let me say I have always installed my own trailer hitches , I’ve made them myself and helped friends install them. I just installed this Curt on my 2024 Rav4 and it fit like a glove . It literally was longer to drive the car up on small ramps (4” retaining wall block and steel plates) peel off the factory nut plate stickers and get my floor jack out , use a towel in the basket of your jack so you don’t scratch the nice powder coat. Doin’ the youtube thing to check out installing this they all say lower the exhaust… hogwash! This fishes right up in there like the DESIGNED it for a lazy person. No need to drop the exhaust. The only problem is you haven’t bought it yet !

The hitch is a nice piece of hardware that fits well.
There is an installation issue as supplied bolts are too long to be installed on the front passenger location of the hitch. They fit the other three locations. -
Side plates taper out at the top so it will not lift into place. It has to slide in from the back, between the exhaust tips and then nose up to clear the pipes (that might be an XLE only thing). Bolts are too long to fit in on the passenger side, even without the hitch in there. The body rail is too close to the battery box on my 2021 hybrid XLE. Cut two bolts down by a quarter inch, then was able to set them in the hitch slots before lifting the whole thing into place. As Frank mentioned, you will need an offset drive on your torque wrench, no clearance for anything bigger than a box end.

Received this hitch and as a consumer I installed having no experience with these. The installation was fairly easy and the hitch matched perfectly the 2019 Rav4. Instructions were spot on regarding tools needed. It should be noted that there is way less work room on the passenger side than the driver side so the Torque wrench dog bone adaptor is necessary. Overall it took about 1 1/2 hours to install. That is probably longer than more astute younger folk but this old man works slow!
